Geotechnical Engineer

KGS Group is seeking a Junior-Intermediate Geotechnical Engineer to join our Geotechnical Department in Mississauga, ON. KGS Group is a multidisciplinary employee-owned consulting firm with offices in Winnipeg, Regina, Mississauga, Thunder Bay and Seattle.

In this position, you will be working in a friendly and collaborative environment with the opportunity to interface directly with clients.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Carrying out field investigations, including borehole layout, utility clearances, supervision of drill rigs and/or excavators, logging boreholes and test pits, surveying, and visual dam and slope inspections;
  • Reviewing soil and rock samples, scheduling geotechnical laboratory testing, and compiling test results for use on engineering projects;
  • Summarizing and analyzing findings from reconnaissance/inspections, investigations and lab testing;
  • Analyzing and modelling slope stability, seepage analysis, settlement, foundation design, soil retaining structures and other geotechnical problems;
  • Preparing or assisting with preparing engineering memos, reports, and presentations.

Qualifications and Credentials:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor degree in Civil/Geotechnical Engineering from a recognized university; A post graduate degree in Geotechnical Engineering would be an asset;
  • 2-5 years experience in geotechnical engineering;
  • Previous geotechnical engineering consulting experience is preferred (excellent verbal and written communication skills and experience in writing proposals and technical reports);
  • Ability to travel to project sites on as required basis;
  • Valid Ontario driver's license;
  • Willing to work on a combination of field and office work.
