Geotechnical Draftsperson

Winnipeg, Manitoba

KGS Group is seeking a Junior-Intermediate Geotechnical Draftsperson to join our Geotechnical/Environmental Departments in Winnipeg, MB. KGS Group is a multidisciplinary employee-owned consulting firm with offices in Winnipeg, Regina, Mississauga, Thunder Bay and Seattle.

The primary duties of a Geotechnical/Environmental Draftsperson are to prepare engineering documents including construction, study and report drawing. Document drawings are prepared using AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Microstation, Powerpoint and Microsoft Office software. The Geotechnical/Environmental Draftsperson works in a drafting team to support Geotechnical/Environmental Engineers and Scientists.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Prepare geotechnical/environmental drawings;
  • Assist in gathering technical information for reports, specifications and analysis;
  • Perform basic calculations and present them in a logical and organized manner;
  • Effectively and accurately communicate information and ideas;
  • Assist in preparation of proposals, memorandums, reports and presentations.

Qualifications and Credentials:

The successful applicant will:

  • Hold a minimum two year diploma, or be graduating from a Drafting Technology institute of recognized standing;
  • C.E.T. or C. Tech designation is preferred;
  • Possess an above average technical aptitude and a desire to further develop technical knowledge;
  • Have working knowledge of geotechnical construction materials and design and drafting standards;
  • Have excellent working knowledge of Civil 3D, AutoCAD, Microstation and Microsoft office software;
  • Successfully work to meet tight deadlines while producing accurate and highly detailed data;
  • Work efficiently and effectively in a drafting team;
  • Be capable of visualizing and communicating complex construction details;
  • Be capable of communicating effectively, both orally and through written communication;
  • Be committed to Quality Assurance.

Further assets to the position include:

  • The ability to collect and process survey data;
  • Knowledge of engineering design.
