Intermediate Municipal Sewer & Water Engineer

Winnipeg, Manitoba

KGS Group is seeking an Intermediate Municipal Sewer & Water Engineer to join our Municipal Department in Winnipeg, MB. KGS Group is a multidisciplinary employee-owned consulting firm with offices in Winnipeg, Regina, Mississauga, Thunder Bay and Seattle.

The successful applicant will lead the preparation of designs, reports, studies, contract documents and help manage various small to large municipal engineering projects. The applicant will work in a friendly and collaborative environment with the opportunity to interface directly with clients.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Provide design, reports, studies and contract documents for municipal infrastructure projects including: Drainage, Water, Wastewater;
  • Manage and execute multiple projects from the proposal stage through to completion;
  • Work collaboratively with other disciplines to execute project deliverables;
  • Ensure quality objectives, schedules and budgets are met.

Qualifications and Credentials:

  • Bachelor degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized post-secondary institution;
  • 5 years of related work experience in the planning, design and implementation of projects in the municipal infrastructure field;
  • Registered or eligible for registration as a professional engineer in Manitoba. Registration in other Canadian provinces is considered an asset;
  • A well-developed familiarity with municipal engineering software. Examples include AutoCAD, Civil 3D, InfoWorks CS or other stormwater modelling software, WaterCAD or other water distribution modelling software;
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint;
  • Working knowledge of relevant municipal and guidance documents. Examples include City of Winnipeg Construction Contracts and Standard Construction Specifications, Province of Manitoba MIT Standard Construction Specifications;
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are required;
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision;
  • Demonstrated experience in site investigations, condition assessments & design;
  • Ability to travel to remote project;
  • Experience working with First Nation Communities;
  • Possession of a valid driver's license; and ability/willingness to undergo security clearance checks.
