Archaeological Technician

KGS Group is currently looking to fill a position as an Archaeological Technician in our growing Ecology and Environmental Impact Assessment Department. KGS Group has offices in Manitoba, Ontario, Saskatchewan and B.C., all offices will be considered based on the right fit candidates.

The Role

KGS Group is looking for an experienced Archaeologist Technician to join our growing Ecology and Environmental Impact Assessment Department. The successful applicant will be an up-and-coming technical leader, or current leader in your field with the drive to participate in a growing dynamic environmental team!

Your Key Responsibilities:

• Participate in archaeological fieldwork in remote settings as part of a team atmosphere.
• Conduct basic archaeological fieldwork tasks (pedestrian survey, test pitting, documentation).
• Communicate and work with Indigenous community groups.
• Ensure adherence to KGS Group health and safety policies and codes of conduct.

About You

To fill the role, we’re looking for an applicant to bring forward a good mix of qualifications and previous experiences.  Some highlights could include:

• Be working towards the completion of a four-year bachelor’s degree in an area of archaeology OR Hold an Avocational license in good standing as issued by the Government of Ontario Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sport.
• Able to work in outdoor environments for extended periods of time, involving moderate to difficult hiking conditions in a variety of weather conditions.

Experience with the following will be considered assets:

• ATV or UTV license training
• First Aid training
• Previous archaeological fieldwork experience in northern Ontario or comparable terrain and environments
• Driver’s license
