Electrical Engineer

The Role
In this role, you will work closely with clients and the multi-disciplinary project team to ensure deliverables meet client expectations. Key duties include assessing client requirements, preparing reports, estimates, specifications, quotations, and proposals, and refining design outputs. You'll also conduct calculations and studies, and carry out site inspections, testing, and commissioning. Additionally, you'll assist in defining project scopes, budgets, and schedules and maintain communication with clients on projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in designing modifications or entirely new electrical systems for industrial, hydroelectric, commercial, and institutional construction projects.
- Contribute to the development of functional and compliant designs.
- Manage and execute various projects, from the proposal phase through to completion. Handle smaller to mid-sized projects, ensuring all deliverables are met with attention to quality and timelines.
- Prepare and review specifications, technical reports, and other project documentation. Ensure clarity and accuracy in all project-related documentation.
- Prepare and review engineering drawings, ensuring they align with project requirements and client standards.
- Work closely with other engineering disciplines to contribute to project deliverables, ensuring quality objectives, schedules, and budgets are met.
About You
To fill the role, we’re looking for an applicant bringing forward a good mix of qualifications and previous experiences. Some highlights could include:
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from a recognized university; a post graduate degree would be an asset.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in electrical engineering with some project management skills (managing scope, tracking budgets and meeting schedules). Experience with hydroelectric generation facilities would be an asset.
- Must be registered or eligible for registration as a professional engineer with EGBC. Registration in other Canadian provinces would be an additional asset.
- Previous consulting experience is preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
- Candidate must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Demonstrated experience in site investigations, condition assessments, design and construction support is preferred.
- Detailed knowledge of power distribution systems.
- Knowledge of building systems is an asset.
- Knowledge of industrial controls is an asset.
- Knowledge of hydro stations is an asset.
- Detailed Knowledge of Canadian Electrical Code, Building Code and other relevant codes and standards for construction of new facilities and facility expansions.
- Experience working on multi-discipline projects.
- Willingness to travel to project sites depending on project/client requirements.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and the ability/willingness to undergo security clearance checks.

The salary range for this position is $75,000 to $115,000 annually.
