The Role
This exciting opportunity allows you to work on diverse environmental projects under the guidance of our experienced senior team, helping you build and refine your skills. As a key member of our team, you will contribute to the successful execution of environmental field programs, engaging in hands-on tasks such as environmental sampling, surveying, environmental emergency response, erosion and sediment control, and site inspections to ensure compliance with environmental regulations.
In addition to fieldwork, you will enhance your technical writing skills by preparing daily reports, borehole logs, and key environmental data records. You will also play a role in creating technical documents and managing data, contributing to the overall success of our projects. This role offers a dynamic blend of fieldwork and technical development, perfect for someone eager to grow in the environmental field.
Your Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the completion of Environmental Site Assessments (Phase 1, 2 and 3) and remedial projects.
- Assist in the completion of Environmental Assessments and Class Environmental Assessments.
- Field and site inspections, including coordinating and directing site contractors.
- Construction surveillance, monitoring, and reporting.
- Environmental surveillance, monitoring, and reporting.
- Designated Substance Surveys.
- Computer activities - data entry/analysis, engineering programs utilization.
- Leveraging advanced technology, including unmanned aerial vehicles, GPS survey equipment, and water chemistry instruments.
- Assist with scoping, budget development, and preparation of proposals and reports.
- Safely perform work in the office and field; fieldwork may occur in all seasonal weather conditions, using equipment and operating vehicles on behalf of the company. Some heavy lifting may be required.
- Willing and able to work extended hours, when needed, to meet deadlines.
- Work towards and achieve designation as C.E.T. or C.Tech.
About You
To fill the role, we’re looking for an applicant to bring forward a good mix of qualifications and some previous experience. Some highlights include:
- Technical diploma or bachelor’s degree in a related field (e.g. environmental sciences, environmental technology).
- Surveying skills are required.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Candidate must be able to work independently as well as in a team environment.
- Proficiency in MS Office and MS Excel.
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail; accuracy is essential.
- Focused organization and time management abilities.
- Understanding the importance of health & safety as a top priority.
- Willingness to travel outside of Thunder Bay for work
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Ability to obtain Federal, Provincial, or any other security clearances.
