Senior Electrical Engineer - Vancouver
KGS Group is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our Electrical Engineering department in Vancouver, BC.

The Role
In this role, you will lead client interactions and collaborate with a multi-disciplinary project team to ensure deliverables align with client expectations. Your responsibilities will include evaluating client needs, overseeing the preparation of reports, estimates, specifications, quotations, and proposals, and refining final design outputs. You will also provide review and expert guidance in performing calculations and studies, testing, and commissioning. Furthermore, you will lead electrical projects from the proposal phase to completion, including defining project scopes, budgets, and schedules, while ensuring continuous communication with clients throughout the entire project lifecycle. Additionally, you will lead and mentor intermediate and junior-level employees, fostering their growth and development within the team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the design of both modifications and new electrical systems for a wide range of projects in industrial, hydroelectric, commercial, and institutional sectors.
- You will ensure that all designs meet client requirements, industry standards, and regulatory compliance.
- Take responsibility for managing and executing multiple projects, ranging from small to large in scale, across the commercial sector.
- You will oversee all stages of the project lifecycle, ensuring successful delivery within budget, scope, and timeline constraints.
- Lead the preparation and review of detailed specifications, technical reports, and other key project documentation.
- Ensure that all documentation is thorough, accurate, and aligns with client expectations. Oversee the preparation and review of engineering drawings, ensuring that all technical details are precise and meet project requirements. Lead cross-disciplinary collaboration, ensuring coordination among various teams to deliver project objectives.
- Proactively address potential issues and ensure quality, schedule, and budget goals are consistently met.
- Actively pursue and develop new business opportunities with both existing and potential clients.
- Contribute to proposal development and work closely with the leadership team to expand the firm’s market presence.
- Take a leadership role in mentoring and managing junior engineers and technical staff. Provide coaching, technical guidance, and career development support, ensuring the team’s growth.
About You
To fill the role, we’re looking for an applicant bringing forward a good mix of qualifications and previous experiences. Some highlights could include:
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from a recognized university; a post graduate degree would be an asset.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in electrical engineering with project management skills (managing scope, budget and project schedule). Experience with hydroelectric generation and industrial facilities would be an asset.
- Must be registered or eligible for registration as a professional engineer with EGBC. Registration in other Canadian provinces would be an additional asset.
- Previous consulting experience is preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
- Candidates must be able to work independently.
- Demonstrated experience in site investigations, condition assessments, design and construction support is preferred.
- Demonstrated experience leading and mentoring intermediate and junior staff.
- Detailed knowledge of LV/MV/HV power distribution systems.
- Knowledge of building systems is an asset.
- Knowledge of industrial controls is an asset.
- Knowledge of hydro stations is an asset.
- Detailed Knowledge of Canadian Electrical Code, Building Code and other relevant codes and standards for construction of new facilities and facility expansions.
- Experience working on multi-discipline projects.
- Willingness to travel to project sites depending on project/client requirements.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and the ability/willingness to undergo security clearance checks.

The salary range for this position is $110,000 to $150,000 annually.
