Transportation Engineer

The Opportunity
In this role, you will become part of the transportation design team. This role is a 40-hour Monday to Friday work week within the Saskatoon office, with ability to complete project site work outside of these locations and hours occasionally.
The role includes completing detailed design for construction of transportation infrastructure throughout Saskatchewan and Canada, with clients such as the Saskatchewan Ministry of Highways, City of Regina, City of Saskatoon, a broad range of urban and rural municipalities, and the private sector. The successful candidate will have the ability to conduct projects within a team environment, working closely with senior design team members, as well as the transportation planning and construction administration teams.

Your Key Responsibilities:
- Complete detailed design including horizontal and vertical alignments and geometry for urban and rural roadways, sidewalks, bicycle paths etc.
- Use AutoCAD / Civil 3d software to produce design models and drawings.
- Complete pavement surfacing designs for roadways.
- Prepare design reports and memos.
- Perform RTK GPS topographic surveys as required on projects.
- Complete field investigations of project locations.
- Analyse existing conditions of roadways, utilities, culverts/drainage, and geotechnical data.
- Produce contract documents, technical specifications and Issued for Construction drawings.
- Project management.
- Other tasks as required.
About You
To fill the role, we’re looking for an applicant to bring forward a good mix of qualifications and previous experience. Some highlights could include:
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from a recognized post-secondary institution.
- Eligible for registration with APEGS.
- Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Previous experience with AutoCAD / Civil 3D drafting software is considered an asset.
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License.
- Ability to coordinate and communicate with team members and clients.
- Excellent time management skills and the ability to work independently, and within tight timelines.
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Familiarity with Transportation Association of Canada (TAC) and Saskatchewan Ministry of Highways design standards is an asset.
