Transportation Planner
KGS Group is seeking a Transportation Planner to join our growing Transportation Department in Saskatchewan. The position is available in either Regina or Saskatoon.

KGS Group is currently seeking a Transportation Planner in Regina or Saskatoon. Reporting to the Transportation Planning Practice Lead, this position will be responsible for overseeing projects for clients that include Saskatchewan Ministry of Highways, the City of Saskatoon, City of Regina, a broad range of urban and rural municipalities and the private sector. This role will work closely with design and construction staff in the Transportation Department.
The successful candidate will have the ability to conduct projects within a team environment and showcase their creative side to positively impact transport mobility in the world around them. The projects will include developing interchange layouts, designing passing lanes, preparing transportation master plans, conducting traffic impact studies, preparing parking studies and corridor studies, undertaking safety assessments and working on active transportation studies. As part of a team of transportation planning professionals, this role will have the opportunity to work on a diverse range of projects with colleagues.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate in future highway corridor alignment selection
- Conduct traffic operations analyses at intersections and roundabouts
- Help to develop area network plans and prepare transportation master plans for municipalities
- Participate in transportation in-service safety reviews
- Undertake traffic impact studies, using ITE’s new multi-modal criteria
- Develop traffic forecasts for roadways and highways
- Assist in preparing study proposals and project reports
- Work with other transportation staff and other departments to develop multi-disciplinary solutions
About You
We’re looking for an applicant to bring forward a good mix of qualifications and previous experiences. Some ideal qualifications could include:
- Degree in urban planning or civil engineering, with a focus on transportation systems
- 3-6 years of related transportation planning experience
- Exposure to industry standard software such as Synchro, VISSIM and Sidra
- Desire to work on projects that impact the public and lives of those around you
- Communication and presentation skills
- Certifications such as PTP, PTOE or RSP viewed favorably
- Strong people skills, and the ability to work with wide variety of staff and clients
